Los Angeles, California – A devastating wildfire tore through the affluent Pacific Palisades neighborhood, setting to ash the most expensive mansion in the area- an expansive estate with 18 bedrooms, valued at ₹10,375 crore (or approximately $125 million).
This fire is part of a series of wildfires that have been plaguing California throughout 2025, leaving numerous upscale housing complexes and numerous other high-profile properties evacuated.
About the Mansion
The lavish estate, owned by twenty-nine year-old Austin Russell, the CEO of Luminar Technologies, became the talk of the town because of its vastness and opulence. It boasts eighteen bedrooms, a modern cinema, a ‘Nobu-designed’ chef’s kitchen, and far-reaching views of the Pacific Ocean.
It became even more popular when, in 2023, it was used as the living quarters of the Roy siblings during the filming of the famed HBO series “Succession.” The property was offered for rent at $450,000, showing the grand symbol of glam and rarity associated with Los Angeles.
About the Fire’s Aftermath
The Pacific Palisades fire, which set off on January 7, 2025, has been working furiously through the area spurred by incendiary Santa Ana winds and dry conditions. More than 21,000 acres have burned-to-date in many parts; nearly 10,000 structures have been destroyed, and at least eleven fatalities have been recorded.
Though more than 1,500 firefighters have battled this wildfire, it is only 8 percent controlled-three churches have burned, with evacuation orders affecting tens of thousands of residents. The burning of the mansion bears testimony to the wider destruction the fire is causing among both supporting and less well-off communities.
Losses of Lives and Community Reaction

The wildfire has also passed through until the luxury homes located in the Pacific Palisades and its neighborhood are usually engulfed by flames. Notable people like soap star Eric Braeden, known for the TV show “The Young and the Restless,” also lost his home.
For Braeden, who lived in it for 45 years, it was indeed a painful moment to see his property in ruins. Another celebrity, Bella Hadid, has also been affected. Some of them have lost their homes, while others had to evacuate just to be on the safe side.
However, within the locality, the community has rallied together and offered help through the authorities and local organizations to the displaced persons from the fire.
Court Pressures the Firefighters
Firefighting teams tread into the wilderness to contain the encroaching fire by aerial water drops and ground crews. But, with strong winds and low humidity, they had to halt their battling efforts on containment through the trying weather.
Nearby residents remain on alert, and evacuation centers have been established for those who must abandon their homes. The Los Angeles Fire Department reminds residents to follow precautionary evacuation orders through official notifications.
What’s at Stake on Real Estate
The burning of an ultra-luxurious residence highlights the risks faced by other luxury properties within wildfire zones. According to reports, as a result, a considered effect on the local property market will be experienced, which may also affect insurance premiums.
Real estate specialists predict that, following this disaster, there will be a radical shift in the way building is done and calls for the use of fire-resistant construction materials.
The destruction of Pacific Palisades’ most expensive mansion celebrates the omnipresence of wildfires and their social effects on the community, no matter the status of those affected.
