Saif Ali Khan, an established Bollywood actor, suffered life-threatening injuries after being attacked in the entrance of his home in Bandra, Mumbai, and was stabbed multiple times.
The incident allegedly occurred shortly after Khan was attacked in his apartment-his murderer-breaking into, taking advantage of an open fire exit-in the early hours of January 16, 2025. The attack left Khan in serious condition, and he was rushed to Lilavati Hospital for immediate emergency surgery.
According to police accounts, it took place around 2:30 a.m. at Khan’s residence in the satguru Sharan building. The assailant drew a knife and first confronted Khan in his apartment. In the ensuing fight, Khan received stab wounds in the neck, back, and waist.
He was taken into neurosurgery to remove a piece of knife lodged in the spinal cord, which led to a leak from the spinal cord. Hospital authorities said that Saif was out of danger by the time the surgery was over.
CCTV Footage and Identification of the Suspect
Based on the CCTV footage from the security cameras on the premises of the building, he was a good lead on the identity of the alleged assailant. The video shows a man dressed in T-shirt and jeans descending the stairs leisurely just after the time of the attack.
The face of the suspect is only partially visible while the police are utilizing such footage to assist them in identifying and apprehending him. Its picture has been published with an appeal, addressed to the public to assist the police.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis addressed the incident, saying that while the attack on Saif Ali Khan is serious, it wouldn’t be right to call Mumbai unsafe based on isolated events.
He stated that these incidents should be taken very seriously, while concluding that one or two incidents can’t tarnish Mumbai as falling into dangerous places. The chief minister assured the whole thing was about making Mumbai safer.
