Hyderabad, December 30, 2024 – The Nampally District Court in Hyderabad has decided to defer its ruling on Telugu actor Allu Arjun’s bail application stemming from the recent stampede at the premier of his film, “Pushpa 2: The Rule.”
It will hear the arguments on January 3, 2025, after granting requests from both prosecution and defense.
On December 4, 2024, at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad, thousands of fans congregated to watch Telugu film actor Allu Arjun at the premiere of “Pushpa 2.”
The situation became critical when the actor greeted his fans through the sunroof of his car, creating a stampede, which killed Revathi and severely injured her young son. The Hyderabad City Police took Arjun into custody on December 13, following multiple charges, including culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
Initially, he was sent into judicial custody for 14 days, although on the following day he was given an interim bail by the Telangana High Court after he provided a bond of ₹50,000.
Legal Proceedings
On December 30, the prosecution objected to the bail application by Allu Arjun, while the defense argued that he might throw his weight around once released which they did not find to be quite welcome, given the seriousness of the charges against Arjun.
In response, the defense pointed out that Allu Arjun cooperated with the police in every respect and had tried to help the family of the deceased with legal assistance. After the arguments, the judge deferred a decision on this bail application until January 3, 2025.
