In a chilling development that has sent shockwaves across Maharashtra’s political and public circles, Zeeshan Siddique, the son of late politician Baba Siddique, has reportedly received a death threat via email, demanding a ransom of ₹10 crore. The email, allegedly sent by an unknown individual, warns of dire consequences, stating that Zeeshan would be “killed like his father” if the amount isn’t paid.
The Mumbai Police has launched a full-scale investigation following a formal complaint from Zeeshan. According to police sources, the email also threatens that if the money is not paid, Zeeshan will continue to receive threats every six hours. This incident has once again brought attention to the violent undercurrents still present in Mumbai’s criminal ecosystem, particularly in cases tied to high-profile individuals.
Baba Siddique’s Assassination Still Haunts Mumbai

The threat comes just months after the shocking murder of Baba Siddique, a former MLA and senior Congress leader who was gunned down in Mumbai in October 2024. His murder, which was believed to be orchestrated by a group of gangsters, is still under investigation. The key suspects in the case include Salman Vohra, Akashdeep Singh, and Anmol Bishnoi. While the first two have been arrested, Bishnoi remains absconding, with a non-bailable warrant issued against him.
This new threat to Zeeshan has raised concerns over the safety of public figures and the unresolved roots of the original crime. Security around Zeeshan has been reportedly tightened as a precaution.
Political Circles Express Concern
Leaders from multiple parties have condemned the threat and urged the Mumbai Police to act swiftly. “This isn’t just a threat to Zeeshan, it’s a threat to law and order,” said a local Congress leader.
The fact that the email references “D Company” and alludes to the same modus operandi as Baba Siddique’s murder has deepened suspicions that organized crime groups may still be attempting to assert power over political figures.
Police Investigating Digital Trails
Sources within the Mumbai Police cybercrime unit have confirmed that IP address tracing and email header analysis are underway to track the sender’s location and identity. They are also reviewing CCTV footage near Zeeshan’s office and residence for any unusual activity.
As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with the threat, but officials have promised swift action.
