New Delhi-January 5, 2025-Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated several major infrastructure projects in Delhi including the Namo Bharat Corridor and a new stretch of the Delhi Metro.

Inauguration of the Namo Bharat Corridor
Prime Minister Modi inaugurated this 13-kilometer section of the Namo Bharat corridor that connects Sahibabad and New Ashok Nagar, which is yet another leg of the Namo Bharat corridor associated with the main Regional Rapid Transit System between Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Meerut earmarking Metro for the said purposes where it purposely strives to improve the intercity connections and reduce travel time between key urban centers.
The corridor has state-of-the-art facilities-the ultra-modern stations and engines-to ensure that its commuters have a speedy journey.
Phase-IV Expansion of the Delhi Metro
Besides the Namo Bharat corridor, Prime Minister Modi inaugurated a 2.8-kilometer stretch between Janakpuri and Krishna Park under Phase-IV extension of Delhi Metro. Being operational now, this project costing around ₹1,200 crore is the first segment of Phase-IV to become operational.
The launch of the new line is expected to benefit West Delhi residents, especially in Krishna Park, Vikaspuri, and Janakpuri, by enhancing public transport options and thereby reducing traffic congestion.
Kejriwal’s Acknowledgment of Cooperative Efforts
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has taken the opportunity to laud the inauguration of these projects, describing them as a major turning point in Delhi’s infrastructure development. He further pointed out that the successful completion of these developments was facilitated by the superb coordination between the central government along with the Delhi government.
Kejriwal stated, “These projects are testimony to the resolve of both the central and Delhi governments to work in tandem for the betterment of city infrastructure and welfare of its residents.”
Political Dynamics: Public Perception

These projects were inaugurated in a backdrop of political tussle between the Delhi and the Center. While cooperation is evident in infrastructure development, instances of political disagreement over several administrative issues have arisen.
Kejriwal’s acknowledgment of the cooperated effort in these projects may be seen as an attempt to expand a positive understanding of cooperation in the base of governance amid political differences.
Impact on Urban Landscape in Delhi
Delhi’s newly opened infrastructure projects promise a huge boom in the urban development of the capital. The Namo Bharat corridor is projected to facilitate the commute from Delhi to neighbouring areas much faster and promote economic integration and development.
Also with the platforms in place, a wider extension of the Delhi Metro network will facilitate people with mobility, easing ups on the dependence on cars and cleaning up the atmosphere in the capital.
Future projects that would be undertaken would focus on upgrading public conveyance systems, urban amenities, and sustainable development strategies to handle the problems in face of rapid urbanization; there is a declared commitment by both Delhi and central governments for continued collaboration in infrastructure projects for making the lives of the people in Delhi easier.
Strengthening of the Delhi Metro corridor and the launch of the Namo Bharat corridor would serve as another significant strengthening of Delhi’s further into modernization in terms of infrastructure.
The joint work undertaken by the central and Delhi Governments is a strong and resolute example for cooperative federalism to achieve any larger urban infrastructure goals.
With further progress of these projects, the city is set to undergo major improvement in connectivity, travel time reduction, and quality of its overall urban set up.
